Hallo
I still wonder why the project hast so many downloads. I can't
imagine why the mjpegtools are downloaded that often but I'm
still somewhat proud of it.
When I use them, it's because of lavplay. I like its ability to
single-step frames forwards and backwards, without being a
full-blown video editor.
That is a very nice feature, I use it for frame exact cropping.

One thing I would really like to have changed is the audio
playback from OSS to Alsa. So you can hear what you recorded.
I think we did use the help-wanted once, but we didn't get any
feedback. (Probably that was done by user madmac)
lavplay, after my patch to audiolib, mostly works with the padsp
wrapper. I can't remember if I've tried using lavrec with it, though.
I'm not sure if lavrec will work with zoran devices and the current OSS
Emulation. It seems that some people still use parts of it.

I did not include the patch from Martin van Gagern to use the v4l1
compatible access
(http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3306829&group_id=5776&atid=305776)
So with a current kernel (3.0.x Series and late 2.6.x) recording can't
work without some patches on your own. And I don't really know ho to go
on with the old PCI Cards.

On think I noticed with my current OpenSuse is that the oss emulation
kernel module isn't loaded by default any more so lavplay does not
produce any sound. That is annoying, and would really like if someone
could fix that by changing at least the audio playback to alsa.

auf hoffentlich bald,
